ONDC Offer Creation User Guide

1.0 Overview

In online shopping, exclusive deals and discounts drive the e-commerce experience, shaping how we shop and impacting our choices among countless options available. So, both small and large e-commerce platforms often launch offers and promotions on different occasions to attract customers. 

Offers and discounts in e-commerce are powerful tools. They attract customers, increase sales, clear inventory, build loyalty, promote brands, and provide valuable insights into customer behavior for future strategies. This applies not just to traditional e-commerce platforms but also to businesses on ONDC.

To enable these businesses to provide their customers with offers and increase retention, Bitsila has created a new feature to create and manage their offers on their products in different stores. And this guide helps walk you through the process.

1.1 Types of Offers

There are four different types of offers that you can avail for your customers.

1. Flat Off: A fixed amount deducted from the product's price, such as "₹10 off."

2. Percent Off: A discount given in percentage terms, like "20% off."


2.0 Step-by-Step Procedure for Creating Offers

Step 1: Navigate to the Marketing Module on the left-side panel and select Offers

You can the see the list of all the offers in your account.

Step 2: Click on the Create New Button on the Top-right.

Step 3: Enter the details about what this offer is applicable for

For this example, we are choosing Items.

The Maximum Order Amount and Standalone Flag are optional. They let you set a limit for the maximum order value the offer applies to and decide if you want the offer to stand alone or be combined with others.

Step 4: Enter the details about Stores this offer is applicable to.

You can either select the store individually from the drop-down or you can choose the All Stores Flag, which makes offer applicable to all the stores in your account.

You can also set up, requirements like purchase quantity, amount, customer type and offer usage limit, etc.

Step 5: Enter for which sales channels, delivery modes, and items the offer is applicable to.

The Sales Channel should be ONDC, if you want to create an offer for ONDC and you can choose from the dropdown.

The Delivery type is also a drop-down. Based on your selection, the offers will only be applicable for orders with certain delivery type.

You can select the Items, categories, Groups and sub-groups to which the offer can be applicable, in the same panel.

Step 6: Set up Offer Validity

Select From Date, To date, From time, to Time, to set the limits of offer validity. You can select the Applicable Days of the week from the drop-down.

In the same panel, you can select the Flags, Is Favorite and Auto Apply the Offer.

Note: Auto Apply the Offer Flag is mandatory for the offer to be applicable.

Step 7: Assign a Name and an Offer code

This helps with better identification.

Step 8: Select the Offer type and Applicable discount

You can select the offer type from the dropdown and for this example, we are choosing Percent Off. And Also enter the Applicable discount percentage.

Note: At the moment, you can only choose Percent off or Flat off options only.

Once you finish entering all these details, click on Create Button.

Step 9: Change the Status to Active.

Go to the Actions Drop-down and click on Change status.

Choose the status from the drop-down and click on Change Status Button.

The status will be changed to Active.

3.0 Updating the Offer

Navigate to the Outlets Module, Click on Outlets and from the list select the outlet for which the offer you created is applicable for. 

Go to the Items Tab and search for the Item that you created the offer for.


Edit the Item’s Online Price and update the changes.


Note: You can edit the item prices by using any of the following methods. 

  1. Updating the single or multiple items prices manually.

  2. Bulk Update of the prices using Export/Import operation or SSP Import.

  3. Bulk Price Update operation.

The offer will be applied to the price, in spite of the price update method.

Now in the items tab, when you check the Online Price of the item, you can see that it shows the discounted price.

1. What is ONDC?

   - ONDC stands for Open Network for Digital Commerce. It's a platform that enables businesses to create and manage offers on their products across various stores.


2. What types of offers can businesses create using ONDC?

   - There are four primary types of offers:

     1. Flat Off

     2. Percent Off

     3. Fixed Price Discount

     4. Buy X Get Y


3. How do I create a new offer using ONDC?

   - Follow these steps:

     1. Navigate to the Marketing Module and select Offers.

     2. Click "Create New" on the top-right.

     3. Enter offer details, applicable stores, sales channels, delivery modes, and validity.

     4. Assign a name, offer code, type, and applicable discount.

     5. Activate the offer by changing its status to "Active."


4. Can I set specific conditions for an offer's applicability?

   - Yes, you can set conditions based on purchase quantity, amount, customer type, offer usage limit, and more.


5. How do I verify if the offer is active and applied correctly?

   - Navigate to the Outlets Module, select the relevant outlet, and check the Items Tab for the item associated with the offer. Verify the updated Online Price reflects the discounted price.


6. What are the different delivery types businesses can offer on ONDC?

   - ONDC businesses can provide On-Network Delivery and Off-Network Delivery, which includes Third-Party Logistics and Self-Delivery by the Business.


7. Are there different charges for deliveries?

   - Yes, delivery charges can vary based on distance and order amount.


8. Is there a limit to the validity of the offers created?

   - You can set validity by defining start and end dates along with applicable days of the week for the offer to be active.


9. Can an offer be applicable to all stores within an account?

   - Yes, using the "All Stores" flag, an offer can be made applicable to all stores within an account.


10. What actions should I take after creating an offer?

   - Ensure the offer status is changed to "Active" to make it available for customers to use during their purchases.
